Kolokasi Festival 2025: An Enchanting Feast for Your Senses
Kolokasi, also known as Colocasia Esculenta or Taro Root, holds a special place in Cyprus’s culinary heritage. The Kolokasi Festival in Sotira celebrates this unique root vegetable, which has been cultivated in the town since the early 20th century. Today, Sotira produces over 85% of Cyprus’s kolokasi. Since 2016, “Kolokasi Sotiras” has held Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, solidifying its cultural and gastronomic importance.
